In this first Kent 1 league match of the season a depleted Shoots were unable to contain a powerful Sittingbourne.
Our half back pair of Harry Barham and Edmar Vinluan stood out but other areas of the game left Shoots trailing. The visitors ran in a try in the first minute shortly followed by another and despite Shoots making some territorial gains Sittingbourne collected a third try after pushing us over the line. HT 0-21.
Now playing downhill Shoots worked hard to get into the opposition 22 and centre Pete Evans drove on to gain a penalty from which Glen Miller drove over the line. Shoots also had the unusual experience of being driven backwards in the pack and could not prevent a further try followed later by a penalty. Injuries upset our plans but too many passes went astray and a lineout that didn't function meant the heavier visitors proved too hard to stop.
